Ingredient List
- Pizza dough: Homemade is best, but store-bought dough is very easy to work with and usually tastes great.
- Big Mac Sauce: Whether you use our recipe for Homemade Big Mac Sauce or storebought, the star of any Big Mac recipe is the Mac Sauce
- Sesame seeds: Added to the crust to resemble the sesame bun on a Big Mac.
- Ground beef: High-quality medium or regular ground beef.
- Mozzarella cheese: For this pizza, we like a dry-packed mozzarella ball. It’s the best cheese to use mainly as it’s stringy and doesn’t release too much grease.
- Cheddar cheese: Just a bit of cheddar or American cheese to give a sharp flavor and nod to the classic Big Mac Burger.
- Iceberg lettuce: Added at the end so it doesn’t get soggy. Shredded romaine lettuce can be used as a substitute.
- Dill Pickle: Our preference is fermented deli-style dill pickles, but shelf-stable vinegar-based dill pickles work as well.
- Onion: White onion is best, Spanish or yellow onion can be used as a substitute.
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Additions
- Spicy: Add a few dashes of hot sauce to the Homemade Big Mac Sauce and hot pepper rings on top along with the pickles and onions.
- Meat Lovers: Add ground sausage and bacon for even more meaty flavor.
- Vegetarian: Omit the ground beef or replace it with a meat replacement.
Recipe Steps: How to Make Big Mac Pizza
1. Prepare the pizza dough.
Divide the dough and roll the pieces into smooth balls, ensuring there are no tears on the surface. Rest, covered, for 30 minutes or as directed in your dough recipe or package instructions.
2. Make the Mac sauce.
Combine mayonnaise, minced onion and pickle, mustard, vinegar, ketchup, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl and set aside.

3. Cook the ground beef.
Break up the ground beef and sear in a very hot skillet over medium-high heat until just cooked through. Season with salt and set aside.
4. Stretch the dough.
Coat one of the pizza dough portions in flour. Starting in the middle, press down firmly with your fingertips, pushing the air towards the edges of the dough, until you have about an 8-inch round. Stretch the dough the rest of the way until you have about a 12-inch round.

5. Sauce the pizza.
Spoon the Big Mac sauce onto the center of the dough. Use the back of a large spoon to spread the sauce all over the dough leaving a 1-inch crust.
6. Top the pizza.
Sprinkle the pizza with a light coating of shredded mozzarella cheese, half of the ground beef, and cheddar cheese, then sprinkle the crust with sesame seeds.
7. Cook the pizza.
Transfer the dough to a preheated pizza stone and bake until the cheese is melted, and the crust is risen, golden, and cooked through.
8. Make it like a Big Mac.
Finish the pizzas by layering the top with handfuls of shredded lettuce, dill pickle slices, and onion. Drizzle liberally with Homemade Big Mac Sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Chef's Tip
If using a home oven with a pizza stone, ensure to set it to the highest temperature possible and preheat the oven with the pizza stone in it, set on the highest oven rack. This will give you the closest resemblance to a real pizza oven.
Storage
Because lettuce is added to the top of the pizza, it should be fully enjoyed when it’s made. If you need to store leftovers, remove lettuce before chilling.
Recipe FAQs
Remove lettuce and pickles before storing leftovers. Reheat your pizza in the oven at 350°F or in a skillet over low heat for 6-8 minutes or until the bottom is crisp and toppings warmed up. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced onions, and pickles. Drizzle any additional Homemade Big Mac Sauce, if you have.

I made this the other day in the oven and it was a hit. The family loved it and has demanded I make it every week now.
