Big Mac Pizza, need we say more? With a base of homemade Big Mac sauce, juicy ground beef, stringy cheese, sesame seeds, and all the classic toppings like pickles, onions, and lettuce, each bite of this novelty pizza seriously tastes like, you know, that burger!

We’re obsessed with everything Big Mac. Our Homemade Big Mac Burger is one of the most popular recipes on our blog, and our Big Mac Nachos from our cookbook, Eat With Us, is one recipe most people make first.
Inspired by the classic McDonald's Big Mac, our Big Mac Pizza skips the tomato sauce base for our Homemade Big Mac Sauce Recipe, a condiment that’s found on the classic burger. It’s then topped with juicy ground beef, stringy mozzarella and cheddar cheese, and sesame seeds on the crust, before baking in the oven or pizza oven (if you have one).

Once the dough has cooked and the cheese melted, top the Big Mac Pizza like the burger with chopped onions, tangy pickle rounds, crisp shredded iceberg lettuce, and more of that homemade Big Mac sauce.
Each bite combination of beef lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions all add their own unique flavors and textures to the pizza, and the sesame seed on the crust adds a crunchy texture with a hint of sweetness.
Skip takeout and instead serve our Big Mac Pizza for dinner, for game nights along with Mexican Inspired Crispy Chicken Wings, Roasted Jalapeño Poppers with Bacon and Tortilla Chips, and Crispy Oven Baked French Fries, or when you’re craving the golden arches.
Ingredients
Big Mac Pizza Ingredients
All the ingredients of a Big Mac, but in pizza form.
- Pizza dough: Homemade is best, but store-bought dough is very easy to work with and usually tastes great.
- Big Mac Sauce: Whether you use our recipe for Homemade Big Mac Sauce or storebought, the star of any Big Mac recipe is the Mac Sauce
- Sesame seeds: Added to the crust to resemble the sesame bun on a Big Mac.
- Ground beef: High-quality medium or regular ground beef.
- Mozzarella cheese: No pizza is complete without mozzarella. It’s the best cheese to use mainly as it’s stringy and doesn’t release too much grease.
- Cheddar cheese: Just a bit of cheddar to give a sharp flavor and nod to the classic Big Mac Burger.
- Iceberg lettuce: Added at the end so it doesn’t get soggy. Shredded romaine lettuce can be used as a substitute.
- Dill pickle and onion slices: The perfect crunch in every bite.

Step by Step: How to Make Big Mac Pizza on a Pizza Stone
The steps below focus on making two 12-inch pizzas on a pizza stone in a conventional or pizza oven, we also included steps to make a pan pizza, Big Mac style, in a home oven.
Step 1: Divide your dough into 230g-250g pieces and roll into a smooth ball, ensuring there are no tears on the surface. Rest, covered, for a minimum of 30 minutes or as directed in your dough recipe or package instructions.
Step 2: With the pizza stone in your oven, preheat to the highest temperature setting, typically 500°F - 550°F, or preheat your pizza oven as directed.
Step 3: Combine home Big Mac sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
Step 4: Break the ground beef into small pieces. Carefully spread the beef out in a very hot skillet over medium-high heat. Sear for 2 minutes, then stir the beef to brown the other sides for another 2 minutes, until just cooked through. Season with salt and set aside.
Step 5: Stretch the first dough ball into a 12-inch round. Start by dunking the pizza dough in a bowl of flour, completely coating it, then shaking off the excess. Starting in the middle of the dough ball, press down firmly with your fingertips, pushing the air towards the edges of the dough, do this at different angles, turning and flipping the dough every so often until you have about an 8-inch round. From this point stretch the dough the rest of the way until you have about a 12-inch round. Before topping the pizza, ensure there is enough flour so that the dough will easily move around and launch onto your pizza stone.
Step 6: Spoon about 6 tablespoons of Big Mac sauce onto the center of the dough. Using the back of a large spoon, and working in a circular motion, spread the sauce all over the dough leaving a 1-inch crust.Â
Step 7: Top with a light coating of shredded mozzarella cheese, half of the ground beef, and cheddar cheese, then sprinkle the crust with sesame seeds. Slide the pizza onto a lightly floured pizza peel or a large thin cutting board.
Step 8: Launch the pizza to the pizza stone in the oven and bake for 5-8 minutes until the cheese has melted and the crust has risen and browned. If using a pizza oven, turn the pizza about 90° every 30 seconds until the cheese has melted and the crust has risen and browned, around 1 to 2 minutes. Repeat with the second pizza.
Step 9: Finish the pizzas by layering the top with handfuls of shredded lettuce, dill pickle slices, and onion. Drizzle liberally with Homemade Big Mac Sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
How to Make Big Mac Pizza on a Sheet Pan
Step 1: Drizzle the base of a 13 x 18 sheet pan with olive oil. Place the dough in the pan and use your fingertips to flatten and stretch the dough to cover the entire pan. Cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap and set next to your oven for 30 minutes.
Step 2: Place rack in the lower third and preheat oven to 500°F.
Step 3: Spoon half the Homemade Big Mac Sauce onto the center of the dough. Using the back of a large spoon spread the sauce all over the dough leaving a 1-inch crust.Â
Step 4: Top with shredded mozzarella cheese, ground beef, and cheddar cheese. Sprinkle the crust with sesame seeds.Â
Step 5: Bake for 15-18 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
Step 6: Finish the pizza by layering the top with shredded lettuce, dill pickle slices, and onion. Drizzle with remaining mac sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Big Mac Pizza makes for the perfect base to combine an unlimited number of additions and toppings. Below are a few of our favorites:
- Spicy: Add a few dashes of hot sauce to the Homemade Big Mac Sauce and hot pepper rings on top along with the pickles and onions.
- Meat Lovers: Add ground sausage and bacon for even more meaty flavor.
- Vegetarian: Omit the ground beef or replace it with a meat replacement.

Because lettuce is added to the top of the pizza, it should be fully enjoyed when it’s made. If you need to store leftovers, remove lettuce before chilling.

I made this the other day in the oven and it was a hit. The family loved it and has demanded I make it every week now.

Can't think of a better compliment than that! I can think of worse things to eat on a weekly 😉
